Tata Advanced Systems Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons and has been created to a Special Vehicle of the Tata group to address the segments of Defence, Aerospace, Aero structures, Homeland Security and Disaster Management through technology absorption, adaption and customization to provide Timely, Best-in-Class, Cost effective indigenous solutions to Nation’s Security & Armed Forces. The Tata Group, is currently channelizing all its efforts in these business segments through Tata Advanced Systems and its subsidiaries, and is currently investing in critical technologies with a view to indigenize, equip and support the Security and Armed forces with World Class products and solutions. Towards this, Tata Advanced Systems has already established Global partnerships and Joint Ventures with some of the world’s leading manufacturers and OEMs to bring in the best of breed technologies. Further, Tata Advanced Systems Limited has been issued with key Defence Production Licenses to enable manufacture of a wide range of products and solutions for Indian Armed Forces.

Mr S Ramadorai

In February 2011, Mr. S Ramadorai stepped into public service when the Indian Government appointed him as the Advisor to the Prime Minister in the National Skill Development Council, in the rank of Cabinet Minister. The Council, which is headed by the Prime Minister, seeks to develop a strategy for skill development at the national level with a view to address the skill deficit.

Mr. Ramadorai is also the Chairman of other Tata companies - Tata Elxsi Ltd, Tata Technologies Ltd, CMC Ltd and CRL Ltd.  He is on the Boards of a number of non Tata companies and educational institutions - Tata Industries, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Bombay Stock Exchange and the MIT Sloan School of Management (EMSAB).

He has been associated with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd for the past 39 years and is currently the Vice Chairman of TCS, a company. He took over as CEO in 1996 when the company’s revenue was $160 million and has since then led the company through some of its most exciting phases, including its going public in 2004. In October 2009, he stepped down as CEO, leaving a $6 billion global IT services company to his successor, while he took over the mantle of Vice Chairmanship of the company. Today, the company’s revenue stands at $8 billion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011, with an employee base of over 198,500 of the world’s best trained IT consultants in 42 countries.

In recognition of Mr. Ramadorai’s commitment and dedication to the IT industry he was awarded the Padma Bhushan (India's third highest civilian honor) in January 2006. In April 2009, he was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to the Indo-British economic relations.

Mr. Ramadorai’s academic credentials include a Bachelors degree in Physics from Delhi University (India), a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (India) and a Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of California - UCLA (USA). In 1993, Mr. Ramadorai attended the Sloan School of Management’s highly acclaimed Senior Executive Development Program.

Mr Sukaran Singh

Mr. Sukaran Singh works in the office of Mr.Ratan Tata, Group Chairman, Tata Group and is responsible for developing opportunities in the newly liberalizing defense industry in India and in large energy projects.  Most of these opportunities require leveraging cross-linkages between multiple Tata companies. Prior to joining the Tata Group in 2003,  Mr. Singh was with McKinsey & Company, a leading global strategy consulting firm. While at McKinsey, Mr. Singh worked on a number of corporate, marketing and operations strategy initiatives in metals, energy and IT industries.  Prior to that, Mr. Singh worked in the Chairman’s Office at Samsung in Seoul, South Korea where he was involved in corporate restructuring issues. Mr. Singh earned his MBA in Finance/Marketing from the University of Chicago and his MA in Economics from the University of Oxford in the UK, and his BA, Economics from St.Stephen’s College, Delhi University.

Mr Prakash Telang

Mr. Telang  holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has over three decades of functional expertise in the automotive industry and machinery manufacturing.  After spending the first three years of his career with M/s Larsen & Toubro, he joined the House of Tatas through the prestigious TAS (Tata Administrative Service) cadre. Ever since he has been with the Company, he is responsible for product development, manufacturing, sales and marketing functions of the Strategic Business unit of Light & Small Commercial Vehicles.

Mr. Telang was Executive Director (Commercial Vehicles) of the Company since May 2007 and was elevated as the Managing Director – India operations w.e.f. June 2, 2009.
