Upgradation of 40mm L70 Air Defence Gun

Tata Advanced Systems started its Gun upgradation projects as early as the I980s with the retrofitment of the 40 mm L70 Air Defence Gun, through the replacement of its electro-hydraulic servo-control system with a micro-processor-based all electric drives. The upgraded drive system technology ensured the stability of the gun during “burst firing”. Tata Advanced Systems’ all-electric servo-control system has been successfully subjected to field trials, with the gun slaved to the US FM and flycatcher Tracking Radar at the Army’s School of Artillery, Deolali and more recently at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges.

Tata Advanced Systems was one of the development agencies nominated to design and develop an indigenous 155 / 52mm Towed Gun incorporating futuristic technologies in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical design and analysis.
