Akash Army Launcher

Akash Army Launcher (AAL) is a multi-technology Weapon Platform for Akash missiles, jointly developed by Tata Advanced Systems with DRDO. AAL is a Mobile Launcher System capable of transporting and launching upto three Akash Medium Range Surface to Air Missiles in single or salvo mode. .

AAL is an all-weather and day / night system, which comprises of a self-powered and fully automated electro-mechanical launching system mounted on an 8x8 HMV. AAL is a fully ruggedised system, which can operate in harsh environmental and terrain conditions. It’s rapid coming into and out-of-action time makes AAL one of the most preferred Missile Launch Platforms.

Four AALs form a part of a Firing Unit, which also comprises a Troop Control Centre (TCC), Troop Level Radar (TLR) and support vehicles such as Transporter-cum-Loader Vehicle (TLV) and Troop Equipment Maintenance Vehicle (TEMV). AAL provides a dual-redundant Communication Link to the TCC comprising an RF wireless link and a physical link.
